Forged in a Wyoming garage. Passed hand to hand.

In the 1950s, a pan made for open fire came out of tiny garage batches in Wilson, Wyoming. One of them ended up with James's grandparents, and it was passed down through the family for generations.

Camping with James, we kept cooking on it and asking the same question: why can't you buy these? So we asked the original makers' family for permission to bring it back. They said yes.

How it cooks

  • A steel ground stake holds the pan beside the fire.
  • A removable steel handle lifts it, lowers it, or swivels it off the heat.
  • Down to sear. Up to ease off. Off to hold warm.
  • Run two or three pans on one fire and cook the whole meal.

That first pan had already outlived generations. Ours should too.

Four friends in the Oregon mountains.

Alpine Alchemy is four friends, Dana, Ryan, James, and Grant, living in the Oregon mountains. We cook over open fire more than we probably should, so we brought back a 1950s Wyoming pan, built it to last generations, and made fire cooking better for everyone.
